Privacy
Last updated: October 26, 2026
The app
MacModes makes no network connections. It has no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. Your modes, layouts and settings are saved only on your Mac, in a folder only your user account can read.
- Private and incognito browser windows are never saved.
- Window titles are never stored; only a short one-way fingerprint is kept to match windows.
- If you use the private tabs vault, it is encrypted with a key kept in your Mac's Keychain, on this device only.
- Permissions such as Accessibility, Calendar and Automation are used only for the features that ask for them, and you can turn them off any time in System Settings.
Problem reports
MacModes never sends anything by itself. If you choose to email a problem report, you see everything in it first. It contains versions, your Mac model and how your modes are set up, never window titles, tab addresses or file names.
